No more rain! Sunshine!!! Summer!?
I’m sure I’m not the only person who noticed that those sticky clouds finally gave up, but it gives me a good excuse to exhibit in the sun my sexy Oyster Cart & The Blackheath Cavern Club prints, brilliantly executed by The Print Space in East London.
However, the true reason for this bright post is to announce a bunch of exciting news:
Oyster Cart will be published in the illustration annual AOI Images 36 this Autumn. Initially trying to illustrate the River Thames for the Serco Prize for Illustration 2011, it didn’t work out for the competition, so I got over the moon (at least three times) when I received notice of its selection for Images 36. It’s my first publication on an illustration annual so a pretty big deal for me and I can’t wait to put my hands on the book.
The Blackheath Cavern Club did make it through selection for the Serco Prize for Illustration 2012 and will be exhibited at the London Transport Museum from the 12 November 2012 until early December. It’s the second time I got selected for this exhibition but I don’t get used to it, it still feels amazingly rewarding to get such a great exposure and recognition. This illustration has also been featured in the last issue of the brilliant AMMO magazine, thanks to its “Creative Doodler” founder Dave Hughes.
Also, living in Blackheath for two years and a half has been amazing and easily the best location of my London experience, so it’s even more meaningful to have this piece featured. A London experience to which I’ve said farewell recently as I’m now back to country life, enjoying the peacefulness of Penarth in South Wales! Sea, Peace and Sun.
